We are a group of people coming together to create art. No experience is necessary to participate, and all art supplies are provided by SAFE. Some of the projects you can pursue are:

- printmaking

- embroidery
- collage
- sewing
- quilt-making
If you are interested in something not listed, please ask and we will do our best to provide you with materials. Our studio is large and homey, and has an attached kitchen. We listen to music while we work. Instruction is provided upon request only. Otherwise, feel free to experiment and have fun.
We plan to have rotating exhibits by local artists connected to the mental health recovery movement community. Some exhibits will be based on a theme and some will honor a particular artist or group of artists.

The Tevina Gallery is a Sanctuary and a No Censorship Zone.
This means that we encourage and accept all your personal expressions in an environment of safety and care, and that no art will be judged, removed due to content, or tampered with. We also invite people to consider the use of art as a vehicle for healing. We believe that each person’s art at any given time is the best expression of that person’s intent and experience.

Tevina Antoinette Benedict (1950-2005)
Tevina was a SAFE member and a passionate advocate and activist for women, the poor, the homeless, and people with disabilities, including those with mental health issues. She cared deeply about people and was much loved for her compassion, wit, charm, energy, and selfless giving to others.
The SAFE Art Group chose to name its gallery after her so that her name will continue to resonate around us, and to honor her beautiful spirit through living art.
