| Welcome to SAFE, home to the Wonderland Project |
| A 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization |
SAFE is unique in the state of Oregon for being the only drop-in center designed, owned, and operated entirely by mental health system clients, ex-patients, and survivors. Originally established to be a clubhouse where members could provide each other with support, friendship, and a sense of community, SAFE has expanded to additionally provide Mental Health Aide services, groups and classes, and quality of life supports. The environment at SAFE is equal, nonhierarchical, and empowerment based. Members come to socialize and support one another, explore alternatives or enhancements to conventional treatment, play music or create art together, share meals, use the computers, or watch movies. Activities include occasional Coffee House Night with live entertainment, picnics during the warm weather months, parties, field trips and overnight outings to locations of mutual interest, participation in client/survivor-focused conferences funded through donations and grants, and involvement in the Lane County Consumer Council and other networking opportunities with consumers in the state of Oregon. We are also members of Community Village, an organization within the Oregon Country Fair, comprised of individuals and nonprofits that work together to create a model of a progressive society. If you are in the area, we encourage you to drop by SAFE at 230 Main Street, Springfield, OR.
